A dramatic fall in public support for the Victorian Labor government, led by Premier Jacinta Allan, has raised concerns about the party's future in the state and its potential impact on the federal election. The latest polls reveal a record low primary vote for Labor, with one in three of its voters shifting away from the party since the 2022 election. Political analysts warn that this decline in popularity could extend to the federal level, jeopardizing Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's chances at the upcoming election.
Labor 'on the nose' in Victoria as polls show dramatic drop in support for Allan government putting Albanese at risk
“It's got eerie coincidences with the 1990 election when Labor lost nine federal seats because of the unpopularity, mainly of the state government, and this state government has plunged Victoria into crisis and they are certainly harming Albanese, at a time and he's doing enough harm to himself," Mr Kroger told SkyNews.com.au.
“We’ve seen Labor slowly shedding vote support since the 2022 election, but the latest polling for The Age is a step change,” Mr Reed told SkyNews.com.au Jacinta Allan and the federal government announced on Thursday that up to $333.5 million would be invested in the Werribee Main Road—Princes Freeway Interchange Upgrade and the Ballan Road Intersection Upgrade.
“I think we'll go very close in Werribee. It's an 11 per cent margin, but Steve Murphy is an excellent local candidate so we'll go close there.”
