The Albanese Government has set its sights on offering cost of living relief for retirees and pensioners as it introduces legislation to Parliament which will provide more concessions.
Labor to expand eligibility for Seniors Health Card in Parliament to help older Australians 'under pressure'
Current income limits restrict an individual earning over $57,761 or a couple on more than $96,416 from being able to buy cheaper medicines.Ms Rishworth made it clear that Labor wanted to help retirees “under pressure” amid growing inflation and concerns over the aged care sector. Retirees and pensioners with access to the Seniors Health Card can purchase cheaper medicines, bulk bill doctor visits and higher Safety Net thresholds under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme .
