Voters remain unconvinced by the Labor's federal budget, with the latest Newspoll revealing a lack of belief amongst Australians as to how it can positively impact the country's economy.
Federal budget fails to resonate with voters as record low numbers believe it is good for the economy in latest Newspoll
In another low for the government, just 27 per cent have claimed the budget will make them better off, although the 29 per cent who have said they will be worse off is an improvement on the last budget. "The energy rebate is necessary because Labor has failed to deliver on its pre-election promise of $275 reduction. It’s now admitting it failed and It’s putting a band-aid on a bullet wound," shadow treasurer Angus Taylor told Sky News Australia last week.
While Mr Chalmers was adamant the latest budget measures were devised to"put downward pressure on inflation", just 15 per cent of voters believe it would be good for inflation while 39 per cent think it will only make things worse.
