“In the history of labour parties around the world, they’ve been punished for going to the centre and being seen by the old Left as betraying their old causes,” he said. Mickel said that could be at the detriment of some inner-city Labor candidates, including one of the party’s rising stars in Canberra.
“So the LNP are losing primaries on that fact, and they’re also losing primaries on the hard-right front as well.”
