Shadow Defence Minister Andrew Hastie says he is “very open-minded” about nuclear energy.

“We need to deliver cheap, baseload power to Australian families, businesses, manufacturers, and we need to do it over the next decade,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“If we’re going to remain competitive in an increasingly uncompetitive world – surely we need coal, gas, we need some renewables. “I think we also need to consider nuclear, and it would be folly to rule it out like Labor did today.”
