NSW Premier Chris Minns has defended the state’s decision to refuse permits for pro- Palestine marches over the long weekend coinciding with the anniversary of the October 7 terror attacks.
“On the anniversary of the seventh of October tomorrow, my view is it lacks compassion to hold a protest on that day,” Mr Minns told Sky News Australia host Andrew Clennell on Sunday.Protest organisers Palestinian Action Group are set to hold a rally in the Sydney CBD on October 6 and a vigil on the Town Hall steps on October 7 despite police applying to the NSW Supreme Court to stop the event.
“I’ve been very clear about not hypothecating potential clashes or breaches of the law other than to say police have tactics and resources to ensure the public are safe.”
