The landmark free trade agreement signed on Friday between Australia and the United Kingdom will see tariffs worth more than AU$9 billion removed from Australian goods according to Prime Minister ScottMorrisonMP.
The Australia-UK FTA is the most comprehensive free trade agreement signed by Australia – other than the deal with New Zealand – and wipes off tariffs from over 99 per cent of exports to the UK valued at around AU$9.2 billion.
“When we came to government 27 per cent of our trade was covered by these pro-export agreements for Australia, just 27 per cent. As well as benefits to farmer and wine producers who will see tariff free quotas expand over the next ten years, at which point they will be removed altogether, the FTA will be welcomed by young people wanting to travel to the UK for a working holiday.
