Large Air Tanker crashes while fighting bushfire in NSW, ABC understands
Authorities are searching for the wreckage of a Large Air Tanker that crashed while fighting a bushfire in southern NSW.An RAAF helicopter is circling an area near where the Large Air Tanker's flight data endedIn a statement, the NSW Rural Fire Service said"contact had been lost with a Large Air Tanker which was working in the Snowy Monaro area"."A number of helicopters are in the area carrying out a search.
According to its flight data, the aircraft departed RAAF Base Richmond, in western Sydney, around 12:15pm and was scheduled to return at 2:01pm. Another live flight data website, ADSB Exchange, also showed a military helicopter owned by the Royal Australian Air Force circling the area near Bredbo.
