'Learning opportunity': Bondi cafe manager departs after firing black barista | natassiazc marywardy
A Bondi cafe will no longer employ a manager who allegedly fired a black barista after explaining to him that local customers were "a bit racist".
XS Espresso, which operates nine cafes across Sydney, says the Bondi store manager no longer works there and the company has "zero racism tolerance"."We have not taken this matter lightly," it said in social media statements. "We have taken this as a massive learning opportunity. The company has embedded extra precautions to prevent such incidents in the future."
"I would prefer to give hospitality a break at this present moment," he said. "I'll take some time out to chill."XS Espresso has also appealed to the media and public to help stop harassment and threats team members had received since the incident was first reported.
