Conditions in two communities could make it too unsafe to drive, authorities warned today.

People in parts of Tara and Kogan, in the state's Western Downs, have been urged to leave immediately in an update this morning by Queensland Fire and Emergency Services .

"Leave immediately. Your life could be at risk. It will soon be too dangerous to drive," the QFES said. The affected properties are between Blackburns Road, Wieambilla Road, Bennett School Road and Upper Humbug Road, the QFES said.Residents have been told to head to the Western Downs evacuation centre if they do not have a safe place to go.A total fire ban in the north of NSW has been extended for a week.
