Within minutes of the failed assassination attempt on the life of Donald Trump, left-wing trolls on social media were spreading misinformation that the attack was staged.
It took mere minutes for left-wing trolls to take to social media spreading gross misinformation, claiming the attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump was staged.
On platform X, the word"staged" was trending with more than 475,000 posts, most of which were either spreading or attempting to debunk the conspiracy. The post has garnered more than two million views, almost four thousand reposts and thousands of comments and likes. Leftist organisations, including the social media activism organisation Sleeping Giants Oz posted on X to complain the ABC’s coverage of the shooting was “cutting into Insiders”, accusing the national broadcaster of “mismanagement”.
