A close ally of Scott Morrison, who was only spotted on Monday speaking with the ex-prime minister, launched a blistering attack on his former boss, saying he would have been removed as Liberal leader had it not been for the COVID pandemic.
Alex Hawke, who was the immigration minister under the Morrison government, accused his ex boss of being"addicted" to power in a new book titled"Bulldozed".Mr Hawke also claimed Mr Morrison"didn't really want to take advice from people" and"he wasn't the greatest listener" while leading the country.
The Federal Member for Mitchell told of the moment he advised the then-prime minister to avoid picking Katherine Deves as the Liberal candidate for Warringah. Mr Hawke had also suggested the former leader call an early election in 2021 rather than wait until May this year where he was defeated by Anthony Albanese.
The Liberal MP also believes the ex leader would have been removed as party leader for his Hawaii holiday during the Black Summer bushfires had it not been for the COVID-19 pandemic. Picture: Twitter Savva, whose book comes out on December 1, also noted that infamous trip with his wife and two daughters"effectively destroyed his prime ministership".
Cabinet endorsed all six recommendations from the inquiry carried out by former High Court judge Virginia Bell,"This week the House will be moving a censure motion in the Member for Cook as a result of the findings of Virginia Bell and the inquiry, which found that the actions of the former prime minister fundamentally undermined the principles of responsible government," Mr Albanese said on Monday.
