Sky News understands former MP Lucy Wicks, who forced her former boyfriend and state MP Taylor Martin out of the party over misogynist and abusive text messages he sent her, is the frontrunner for any preselection race. His margin is just 2.3 per cent and the national swing captured in Newspoll at present would be enough to give the Liberals the seat.
At that time, several winnable seats were not preselected until days before the poll, largely due to factional infighting, leading to losses of seats. Liberal sources have told Sky News they are concerned that, despite the party takeover, there is still a delay in getting candidates in the field.
