Yvette Vignando, the CEO of Mary’s House Services, a domestic violence support service, says Lilie James murder in particular is a “stark reminder” that domestic violence happens in “all parts of Sydney, in all stratas of society.
“It’s not just schools, it’s also in our houses of parliament, it’s also in our workplaces, I’ve heard some very disrespectful behaviour come from state and federal houses of parliament, so it needs to be from the top down, leaders in schools, leaders in business, and politicians too,” she told Sky News Australia.
Lilie James is one of six Australian women to be killed in alleged domestic violence incidents in 10 days. The 21-year-old water polo coach was found dead in a gym bathroom in St Andrew’s Cathedral School in central Sydney on October 25th.
