Rowan’s mother Dr Sophie Roome and students from his swim school were among the crowd of 120 who gathered to remember the toddler killed by his father in a murder-suicide last week.
A profound silence settled over the crowd of more than 100 as they sat in the cold autumn evening and clutched their candles as the sun went down.
Sophie Roome is comforted by family, friends and the community of Lismore at a vigil for her son Rowan, 2, who was murdered by his father last Sunday.Among those gathered was Lismore doctor Sophie Roome, the mother of the murdered toddler who last week said she and her family were facing “incomprehensible grief”.About a dozen small children, some who had attended swimming lessons with Rowan, attended the vigil.
