He was partially submerged and pinned for 20 hours before a remarkable joint rescue effort by multiple agencies brought him to safety. Following the ordeal, the man underwent a leg amputation and spent the last two months recovering in Hobart. He is now on the road to recovery and will be returning home to Lithuania soon.A spokesperson for Tasmania's health department expressed their well wishes to the man, stating, 'We wish him all the best in his continued recovery and rehabilitation back home with his family and loved ones.' The spokesperson also highlighted the extraordinary teamwork involved in the rescue operation, praising the 'professionalism, dedication and courage' demonstrated by all agencies involved.The rescue effort, a testament to the collaborative spirit of Tasmania's emergency services, involved Tasmania Police, Ambulance Tasmania, Surf Life Saving Tasmania, Rotor-Lift, the State Emergency Service, Tasmanian Fire Service, and Maritime Safety Authority. The man's family expressed their deep gratitude for the 'world-class professionalism and compassion' shown by the hospital staff, emphasizing that the care received not only saved his life but also exemplified the 'boundless strength of humanity in times of adversity.' Acting secretary of the Department of Health, Dinesh Arya, commended the medical professionals involved in the patient's care, stating, 'I applaud every individual who played a part in the rescue, as well as all staff who have been providing acute and ongoing care to the patient at the RHH over the past few months.
