AUSTIN — Tied with UTSA at the half, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian pulled Bijan Robinson over to deliver a quick message just before the third quarter began.
Robinson finished the game with 183 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. But he wasn’t the only big story from Texas’ first meeting with UTSA.Though redshirt freshman starter Quinn Ewers went through pregame warmups, redshirt sophomore Hudson Card received the start, his first since Week 2 of the 2021 season.
And the ankle held up just fine on a sizzling 32-yard scramble on second-and-22 early in the fourth quarter. A few plays later, Card watched Robinson gallop 41 yards for the game-sealing touchdown with 9:36 remaining. “ deemed the quarterback a defenseless player at that point,” Sarkisian explained afterward. “We’ll definitely try to appeal this one.
