Around 20 staff work all year round to create the incredible spectacle
In a large warehouse on an industrial estate, around 20 members of staff put spend their time creating the magical and unique designs that make up Blackpool Illuminations.
Visitors will marvel at displays which were made in-house at the warehouse, a system which is designed to maintain overall control and protect costs for the free event. Tens of thousands of working hours have been put in to engineering and technological aspects, with final preparations still ongoing with days to go.
Meanwhile, more recognisable items such as giant Doctor Who props and a huge Postman Pat figure helped make clear that the Illuminations HQ is no ordinary factory. Labour shadow minister Jeff Smith visited the factory on Wednesday and was left impressed by what he saw.
