EXCLUSIVE: Daytime presenter Lorraine Kelly, 63, opens up on her special bond with daughter Rosie, her new book and documentary and her charity work to help animals
Catching up with Lorraine Kelly is a joy. The ITV daytime host is as bubbly in person as she is on screen. And while she enjoys a break from her daily chat show Lorraine over the summer, we seize the opportunity to find out more about her home life and her relationship with her journalist daughter Rosie.
The star adds, “All you ever want for your kids is for them to be happy and for them to have lots of pals and to be content. Contentment is very underrated. James Bannister – and whether her chilled persona is just for the cameras. But she assures us that what we see is the real thing, saying, “I treat everyone the same and I’d say I’m quite easy-going.”
Aside from looking after her pooches, Lorraine – who’s been married to her cameraman husband Steve Smith sinceThe book, which will be out in February, is based in Lorraine’s “happy place”, Orkney, and she says she has wanted to write it for a long time. “It was the worst terrorist atrocity in Europe ever,” she says. “I think we need to acknowledge that and the trauma that everyone went through.”
The presenter has plenty to talk about regarding StreetVet, a charity that helps homeless people look after their dogs. She was keen to take on her new ambassadorial role with the charity that was previously filled by her late pal and fellow dog lover, Paul O’Grady.
