A 37-year-old man in Sydney's eastern suburbs was arrested by police from Strike Force Pearl after allegedly drawing Nazi symbols, including a swastika, on a wall. The arrest comes as part of an investigation into a rise in antisemitic incidents in the area. Police have doubled their investigative resources for the strike force, deploying 40 dedicated investigators who have already charged 11 people.

Police arrested the man, and then saw the wall had been “defaced with a number of drawings and writings, including a Nazi symbol and a swastika”, the force claimed. There were 40 dedicated investigators who had been deployed to the strike force, which had charged 11 people – a number that was expected to increase, the NSW police commissioner, Karen Webb, said.
