A man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a 74-year-old swimming teacher in her own home in Sydney’s south, leaving her injured on the ground for up to 16 hours.
Emergency services were called to the Lugarno home of Rose Agius after she was found injured in her bedroom yesterday morning.Police from St George Area Command were told Ms Agius found a man in her bedroom around 5pm on Wednesday afternoon. Police will allege in court the man punched her to the ground before repeatedly kicking her until she lost consciousness.
Detectives conducted inquiries and at midday – just three hours after Ms Agius was discovered injured – they arrested a 34-year-old man on Forest Road at Peakhurst. He was taken to Kogarah Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter, as well as committing a serious indictable offence inflicting actual bodily harm.
