A magistrate denies Marino Sotiropoulos's request to attend his uncle's funeral after hearing that the accused's sister, who is Stuart MacGill's partner, will also be at the service.
One of the men charged over the alleged kidnapping of former cricketer Stuart MacGill won't be allowed to attend a family funeral after a magistrate denied a request to vary his bail conditions.
The 47-year-old's strict conditions include a curfew and frequent reporting to police, but Central Local Court today heard an application for those to be suspended for one day next week so he can attend his uncle's funeral. His lawyer, Nicole Mourad, told the court Mr Sotiropoulos had not had any contact with his sister since his arrest.
They included "certain threats" and amounted to an attempt to indirectly interfere with the complainant, MacGill, the court was told.
