A man has died in Melbourne after falling out of a hot air balloon in a self-harm incident. The incident occurred in Preston and an investigation has been launched. The man fell from the basket at an elevation of 460m without any warning to the pilot. The hot air balloon safely landed in Yarra Bend Park.
A man has died after falling out of a hot air balloon in a self-harm incident in Melbourne . Emergency services were called to Albert Street in Preston in the city's north-east after 7.30am Monday, where his body was located. Police cordoned off the street as an investigation into the fatality was launched. It's understood that the man fell from the basket at an elevation of 460m and that no warning was given to the pilot, the Herald Sun reported.
Power lines have fallen across the road while a white sheet covered the man's body on the footpath under an SES tent. The body has since been removed from the scene. The hot air balloon safely landed 8km away in Yarra Bend Park in Fairfield, and police quickly surrounded it once it lande
