A 56-year-old man has died after a jetski incident on the Barron River in Cairns this morning. Paramedics were called to the scene at about 10am, where two people were assessed for injuries. A woman in her 50s had injuries to her shoulder and chest and was taken to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition. Far North District Duty Officer Senior Sergeant Duane Amos said the initial investigation indicated the vessel collided with another object.
'They've actually collided with an item and as a result of that the two people have actually been ejected into the water,' he said.He said despite attempts to revive the man with CPR, he died at the scene.'They are small waterways, it doesn't take too much there for accidents to occur,' he said. 'There's also other areas there that you can mistake your area of interest for shallow or deep water.
