A 23-year-old has died on Mitchell Highway not long after evading a police pursuit that was initiated due to the man driving a reportedly stolen car.
Traffic and Highway Patrol officers launched a pursuit in Orange at about 7am on Tuesday after sighting a reportedly stolen car on the road.Police attempted to pull over the Holden Commodore on Tuesday, but the male driver refused to stop, prompting officers to initiate the car chase.
Shortly after, authorities were alerted of a serious four-vehicle accident on Mitchell Highway near Orange in which three cars and a bus had crashed. NSW Police identified the driver of the stolen Commodore as a 23-year-old male. He was pronounced dead at the scene.They were assisted on-site by ambulance crews before being taken to Orange Health Service for treatment.
