A man has died in a suspicious house fire in Melbourne's inner south. The fire broke out on Wednesday evening in a house next to the St Kilda police station. Fire crews arrived quickly and brought the blaze under control, but the man inside was critically injured and later died at the scene. Homicide detectives are investigating the fire as suspicious.

Inside, they located a critically injured man. The man received treatment but died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.
