A 24-year-old Ipswich man is being extradited to Queensland from New South Wales to face court over the death of 58-year-old Goodna man David Thornton.

Detectives said yesterday they believe the body is Mr Thornton.

New South Wales police arrested Bobby Andrew Napier in Byron Bay yesterday and he appeared via video link in the Tweed Heads Local Court this morning where a magistrate granted the extradition order. The 24-year-old is being driven to Ipswich where he is expected to appear in court later this afternoon over Mr Thornton's murder.
