A 20-year-old man, Paea Tuiniua, was extradited from Queensland to NSW to face charges related to an alleged 'gang-related' home invasion and a police chase in which shots were fired.
A man allegedly involved in an attempted 'gang-related' home invasion in Sydney 's south-west and subsequent car chase during which shots were fired at police has been extradited from Queensland to face a string of charges. Paea Tuiniua, 20, was arrested at Brisbane Airport on Friday by Australian Federal Police several days after his co-accused, Faez Finau, was taken into custody.
Police in Sydney responded to reports of an attempted break-in by a man with a firearm at Calaria Close, Edensor Park, early on December 31. The vehicle was later seen in Hinchinbrook, where a police pursuit was initiated but later aborted due to safety concerns. It is alleged the passenger fired shots towards police, hitting the bonnet of a police vehicle, but no officers were injured.It is alleged 20-year-old Mr Finau was the driver and he was arrested as his passenger fled.Mr Tuiniua is facing multiple charges including special aggravated break and enter with intent, discharging a firearm with intent to resist arrest, two counts of firing a gun in a manner likely to injure and two counts of possessing an unauthorised pistol. He appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, where detectives from Campbelltown successfully applied to extradite him.
