A jury this week heard that on May 27, 2018, the men had been drinking at a birthday party together with Whybrow's mother, Rose Whybrow, and her partner, Brian Tilley. After smoking some cigarettes on the porch with Ms Whybrow and Mr Tilley, Mr Moffat went into the bedroom to check on Whybrow. "I assumed he was OK. I didn't know I hurt him that bad. If I had have known, I would've helped him afterwards.""He's a nice guy, I wish I could bring him back to life, but I can't. And I believe he did what he did, so I did what I did."In disturbing details shared with the Supreme Court, forensic pathologist David Ranson said Mr Moffat died by suffocating on his own blood, caused by the severe facial injuries inflicted.
In a triple zero call to police, Whybrow described his hands as"registered weapons" and complained of severe pain to his hands."He's f***ed, and if he wakes up he'll be even more f***ed." "People's emotional lives are complex things and can cause people to behave in a way that's totally contrary to who they are."
