A man has lost his leg in a woodchipper accident in the Hawkesbury region northwest of Sydney. 9News
The 51-year-old was cutting down a tree at a Wilberforce property, when a length of rope wrapped around his leg was caught in the woodchipper this morning.
CareFlight came to the aid of a man in WIlberforce who accidentally amputated his own leg in a woodchipper. His colleagues provided first aid and police tied a tourniquet around the man's leg, but he suffered significant blood loss.The man underwent a blood and plasma transfusion on the road. On the way, the ambulance also stopped at a petrol station to buy ice to keep the man's severed leg preserved during the journey.
