A man was shot and killed by police this morning at Russell Island, east of Brisbane, superintendent Andrew Pillotto has confirmed. 9News
Superintendent Andrew Pillotto said police were called to a disturbance at a private residence on Ranora Avenue at about 9am, after receiving phone calls from neighbours of reports of smashing glass.Superintendent Andrew Pillotto responds to fatal shooting of man by Queensland police this morning.at the property, leaving him in a critical condition despite receiving treatment from paramedics.
"Two officers turned up here just after 9:15am, when they turned up and got out of their vehicle, they were immediately confronted by a male person armed with an edged weapon," Mr Pillotto said. "During that confrontation, unfortunately police have discharged their firearm, killing that male person."
