Erik ten Hag will be eager to bolster his midfield this summer, with numerous Manchester United players facing uncertain futures
Manchester United must decide what to do with Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Donny van de Beek, Hannibal and even Sofyan Amrabat before signing Manuel Ugarte. The 23-year-old midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea last summer following his impressive performances for Sporting CP in the Portuguese top flight.
Despite winning Ligue 1 in his debut campaign, the Uruguay international struggled to force himself into Luis Enrique's plans. Now, after just 12 months at Les Parc des Princes, Ugarte faces an uncertain future. Casemiro sees his contract at Old Trafford expire in June 2026, meanwhile, Eriksen, Van de Beek, and Hannibal all see their deals run out in June 2025. With each of their tenures nearing an end, United must soon decide whether or not they have futures at the club.
So, Ratcliffe must decide if he wants to keep Amrabat on a permanent basis and, if not, then he'll need to heavily reinforce the midfield this summer. United's transfer budget could be tight once again this summer, so the club will need to decide on the futures of several players to help boost the coffers - and that could prove vital to help them sign Ugarte.
