A COVID-19 outbreak in Western Australia sparked by an unvaccinated French backpacker has grown, with Premier Mark McGowan revealing the latest case numbers.

"All cases related to this outbreak can be assumed to also be Delta," he said.

Hundreds of close contacts have been ordered to quarantine for 14 days, while the list of exposure sites continues to balloon. "It is absolutely vital that you continue to check the list of potential exposure sites and follow the relevant testing and quarantine instructions. The backpacker, who fell ill on Sunday evening and tested positive on Thursday, visited a number of stores and nightclubs while infectious.
