La familia de la campeona olímpica Mary Lou Retton aseguró que la gimnasta está avanzando de manera “notable” tras sufrir una extraña forma de neumonía que la llevó a ser ingresada en cuidados intensivos.
McKenna Kelley, una de las cuatro hijas de Retton, publicó una actualización el sábado en Instagram diciendo que la respiración de Retton, de 55 años, está más fuerte y que “avanza en su camino a su recuperación”. “Aunque será un largo camino, atestiguar estas mejoras es increíblemente alentador”, publicó Kelley. “Está comenzado a responder al tratamiento”.
Donaciones comenzaron a entrar después de que la familia estableció una campaña de recaudación de fondos para pagar los gastos médicos de Retton, la familia había revelado que no tenía seguro médico. Hasta el sábado por la tarde hay 7.500 donaciones por un total de 415.000 dólares.
