A masked gunman has set himself alight as he frantically escaped a failed shooting in Sydney’s west, new footage has revealed.

About 15 minutes later, police and firefighters were called to Atkin Street in Carramar, about seven kilometres from the shooting, to calls about a car in flames.Hamdan was reversing his Mercedes from a property when the two masked gunmen attempted to kill him. Detective Superintendent Robert Toynton said investigators believed the offender who set himself on fire had caused himself a “significant injury”.
