“I know many in this chamber and people across Queensland are either experiencing COVID in their own households, or know friends, families and work colleagues confronting this virus,” Ms D’Ath said.LNP frontbencher and Toowoomba South MP David Janetzki confirmed on Thursday morning he had tested positive for the virus a day before, after appearing in Parliament on Tuesday. Several other MPs from both major parties have had infections in recent weeks.
Businesses, the LNP and crossbench members have called for a clearer path beyond the present restrictions to be announced.Debate will continue on Thursday on a bill to extend a range of measures granting Chief Health Office John Gerrard the ability to issue directions, and the government the ability to penalise people for failing to comply.
