A wild brawl involving dozens of MPs has erupted in Italian parliament after a fight broke out on the floor of the chamber, leaving one lawmaker in a wheelchair.

Deputy of right-wing Italian party “Lega” Igor Iezzi has copped the most severe ban - 15 days - after he was accused of trying to punch populist Five State Movement politician Leonardo Donno.The melee occurred when Mr Donno thrust an Italian flag in the face of the Minister of Regional and Autonomous Affairs, Roberto Calderoli.

Donno tried to attack Calderoli and I reacted,” he said.
“I collapsed, struggling to breathe. I was afraid. They had to do an electrocardiogram seven or eight times.” Mr Iezzi can be seen in the video attempting to hit his colleague on the head, though he claims the blow was never landed.
