People with a common foot condition are being recruited in a trial with the aim of improving their quality of life. 9News
"Although it's as common as knee osteoarthritis, there's really little research into the field," said Dr Kade Paterson, sports podiatrist and senior research fellow at the University of Melbourne.The foot has 33 joints and osteoarthritis often affects the big toe, causing stiffness and pain.
"Osteoarthritis results in a loss of joint space and it can result in little bony spurs on top of the joint which causes the pain," said Dr Paterson.
