Sam Kerr has created history by becoming the first woman to feature on the cover of EA Sports' FIFA 23 alongside Paris Saint Germain's Kylian Mbappe
The football video game has previously featured females on the cover of local editions of the game including FIFA 2016 which featured the Matilda’s Steph Catley on the Australian version.
United States star Alex Morgan and international football’s top scorer Christine Sinclair also featured on the US and Canadian covers respectively.Following the announcement of the new cover for the 2023 edition several fans took to social media to express their delight at the decision. “I don’t think enough people realise how incredible it is that Sam Kerr will be on the front of FIFA 22 . She is by far one of the most iconic women’s footballers who puts it on the map for everyone to see. And you know the best part?? She plays for Chelsea,” one tweeted.
