Aussie shoppers have been stumped at the checkout after a global tech outage left swathes of consumers either unable to pay for their items or stuck in long queues.A major worldwide tech outage stemming from a flawed anti-viral update from US cyber security company CrowdStrike has plagued Aussie shoppers at the checkout who were shocked by the blue screen of death .
On Friday afternoon, the tech outages led to long cues and disgruntled shoppers at various Coles, Woolworths, Myers, Harris Farm and more outlets around the country.Aussies on X were sharing reports of long lines and checkout screens showing the BDOS as they look to purchase groceries.Another wrote:"Queues to pay are huge where I am."July 19, 2024One Sydneysider told SkyNews.com.
An announcement came over the loud speaker, notifying customers the store was not able to process normal transactions, including refunds, and customers were told to leave. Woolworths confirmed some of it stores and"other facilities" were impacted by the global IT issue in a statement to SkyNews.com.au on Friday afternoon.Aldi has not been impacted by the tech outage. Many online banking apps and eftpos machines are down, causing chaos for cashless shoppers.
