Anyone at the MCG for November’s Sheffield Shield match between Victoria and NSW came away with a couple of distinct impressions. The first was a lively pitch offering something for all; the second was the international class display put on by Scott Boland.
“Really excited for Scotty, a class player, debuting here on his home ground,” Cummins said. “Jhye and Nes pulled up a little bit sore after Adelaide, so we’ve made the decision to bring in Scotty. It’s a luxury to have someone like him ready to go. He’s fresh, and he’s been consistent for so long. In a celebratory moment for Australian cricket’s diversity, Boland, from the Gulidjan tribe in the Colac region, will follow in Gillespie’s footsteps. Aunty Faith Thomas and Ash Gardner have both played Test cricket for the women’s team.“It’s huge - Dizzy was the first, Australia we have a rich history, 50-60,000 years, and it’s great that’s starting to be represented in our team,” Cummins said.
“He’s pretty sore,” Cummins said. “We were kind of umming and ahhing, he had a bit of a bowl out here yesterday, but we thought seven days off would give him enough rest. He’s got a small leg injury, which is nothing major, but we thought rather than risking long-term injury we’d give him a week off.we had six or seven guys who could step in and do a really good job.
