“I was very familiar with the other youngsters. Dexter was at Fulham where I am, before he joined Wolves. Tyler I’ve seen before as well as Dante Cassanova. Coach Hallgrimsson has overseen the debuts of these players in senior friendlies; but if you look a level further, even more foreign-based players have been brought in at the U20 and U17 age groups.
Reggae Boyz expert and Jamaican sports analyst Simon Preston, shared these sentiments and gave us some of his thoughts on the young Boyz in action. “Recruiting young is the best way to do it. Our recruitment in the past of players nearer to the end of their career gave the impression that these guys are choosing Jamaica now because they realise they won’t get in an England squad.”
