For the second state dinner she is hosting, first lady Melania Trump has chosen to again use china from a first family her husband, President Donald Trump, despises: the Clintons.
On Thursday, Melania Trump released details for Friday's state dinner being held Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his wife via a White House press release. "The china settings for the baseplate and dinner service will consist of alternating patterns from the administrations of Presidents William J. Clinton and George W. Bush," the press release stated. It provided no further details on the china.Trump seemingly didn't see a need for a change from the first state dinner she hosted at the White House in April 2018.
"The color scheme is cream and gold, and the china settings consist of the Clinton china for the baseplate, along with both Bush and Clinton china for the dinner service," a White House press release stated at the time. In 2000, during her time as first lady, Clinton approved commissioning the china to celebrate the White House's 200th anniversary. The Clinton china was the first service plate with the White House image at the center.on Friday morning.
