The Victorian Government says Melbourne drinking water is now safe to drink after thousands of people were left in limbo after damaging winds tore across parts of the state. 9News

Bottle water supplies remain depleted in many supermarkets. There were also reports of profiteering and hoarding.Victorians have been warned of potential for falling and trees, as more wild weather is expected for some parts of the state.

Mr Andrews said people need to ensure water is thoroughly boiled for all purposes, including making ice, cooking and cleaning food.Problems with filtration systems following a severe storm meant more than 100 postcodes were cut off from safe drinking water.Just before noon today, water quality was deemed safe in Bayswater, Belgrave, Belgrave Heights, Belgrave South, Boronia, Ferntree Gully, Knoxfield, Lysterfield, Selby, Tecoma, The Basin, Tremont, Upper Ferntree Gully, Upwey and Wantirna.
