Two men have been arrested after allegedly trying to stab police officers with a screwdriver in Melbourne’s CBD. 7NEWS
When police arrived at the scene, they saw two men in an allegedly stolen black Nissan ute and then tried to block it in.As officers attempted to arrest the men, one allegedly produced a screwdriver and tried to stab the police members.There was a strong police presence at the scene overnight, and the incident unfolded in front of shocked neighbours.
“I heard the initial bang and then some more noises like cars colliding sort of thing, either the police car ramming or vice versa. Then they dragged the guy out of the car and that was it,” one neighbour told Sunrise. A 30-year-old Sunbury man is in hospital under police guard with minor injuries and a 23-year-old Heyfield man is assisting police with their inquiries.
