An iconic street festival in Melbourne was canned by organisers on Friday. The Chapel Street Festival — which celebrated food, fashion and music in the city’s inner suburbs — was set to transform the street on February 23. A revival of the festival was planned for 2023, after a 20-year-hiatus and a $450,000 Labor Government grant in 2022 to partially fund the event, but the anticipated festival never went ahead.

” The festival is not managed by the council, and is wholly owned and organised by CSPA, which is an independent organisation. ‘Identifying a new date’ The festival organisers said they hope to reveal a new date for the festival soon. “We are committed to continuing our work with stakeholders, businesses and the community to identify a new date and ensure we deliver an event that showcases the best of the Chapel Street Precinct,” CSPA said.
