Three Victorian men who tried to buy a gun after being inspired by the second Bourke Street stabbing attack are jailed for a decade, but will be eligible for parole in just over five years.

Three Victorian men who tried to buy a gun after being inspired by the second Bourke Street stabbing attack have been jailed for a decade over a terror plot to kill multiple members of the community.

The trio had been radicalised by materials they found online, which Judge Michael O'Connell today said made them believers of the "righteousness of violent jihad". "The offenders were not unwary innocents. Their adherence to the ideology of violent jihad was long standing," he said. He then stabbed three people, fatally wounding Melbourne restaurateur Sisto Malaspina, before being shot dead by police.
