Aerial views of Watford Junction from 1983 before the station was redeveloped.
Watford Junction is one of the most familiar landmarks in the town but the station building was of a much smaller scale until the site was redeveloped to also become multi-storey offices.
These aerial views of Watford’s main station were taken by a Watford Observer photographer in November 1983 from a rooftop in Station Road. They show how it was then possible for passengers to be picked up or dropped off by car directly outside the station where bus stops were also situated. The images also show the area immediately around the Junction, with Benskin House to the left-hand side of the station and next to that building was a pub named The Pennant. We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues.
