Steven Miles confirms Queensland beef will be on the menu for athletes competing at Brisbane 2032 games after vegan controversy erupted at Paris Olympics
He said he was keen to see athletes get a taste Queensland's high-quality produce when they compete Down Under, and indicated tucking into a steak produced in the Sunshine State will help with their performance. "We know Queensland produces some of the best food in the world, whether that's our beef, or our produce.
"These early works will transform Northshore Brisbane now, well ahead of 2032, and deliver a better, more connected Brisbane," he said. "Queensland is home to almost half Australia's cattle herd and beef is our most valuable agricultural export, worth some $7.1 billion a year," he said in May when announcing a doubling of funding for Beef2027 in Rockhampton.
The move was done in a bid to halve each meal's carbon footprint, but the environmentally-conscious push unravelled when some athletes raised concerns.
