Millions of Australians are in the firing line for wet and stormy weather on Friday as an enormous weather system pushes across the southeast corner of the country.

A warm front is also making its way across Tasmania which Sky News Australia Meteorologist Alison Osborne explained could lead to widespread areas of rain, with the risk of some heavy falls in the state’s north. “As everything pushes eastwards tonight, we are expecting showers and storm activity to intensify, stretching through central and then eastern NSW with cooler, westerly wind change arriving at the same time.
Winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with wind gusts of around 90 km/h are forecast around the central and northeastern ranges.Satellite images of Victoria on Friday show light to moderate rain impacting vast swathes of the state, with some patches of yellow and red indicating possible heavy falls. A scattering of power outages were also reported from overnight storm activity in the northwestern corner of the state with at least 50 customers still without power.
